This automatic 1913 Bronx Electric was purchased in 2004 from a private owner. The chassis has steel beams with a wooden body. The body appears to be mostly new with some original wood incorporated into it and the roof is planked with a fabric cover. Under the seat is the electric drive control circuitry which appears to be original, as does the wooden seat platform. The truck stands 8 feet tall. The chassis and running gear appear to be original with a newer paint job. The drive is twin General Electric 85 volt motors with chain drive to each rear wheel. The control lever has 3 speeds both forward and reverse. The 14 6-volt batteries are in a removable box under the truck and we have commercial battery chargers which keep them charged. There is a small modern digital voltmeter in the cab which monitors the battery condition. A wiring diagram is included. The chassis has a 112” wheel base with longitudinal leaf springs front and rear. The steel six-spoke wheels are marked “Vulcan” with demountable rims. The tires are Firestone 6.50x20 pneumatic.
